Stevens Competition joint first entry
I am currently primarily involved in glass work, including glass installations and glass jewellery. I am currently working closely with Andrew Moor, having just completed a glass installation in the city. If you want to contact me in relation to any work, or if you have an interest in my recent jewellery creation, please contact me by e-mail.
My experience in glass started in 2000 when I studied for a Pg Cert at Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London. I graduated in 2004 and during this period was awarded the Chase Charity Scholarship and came joint first in the prestigious Stevens Competition under the Worshipful Company of Glaziers & Painters of Glass, one of the Ancient Livery Companies of the City of London. My entry was based on Romeo and Juliet and combined large and small scale photographic images acid-etched into a mirror (see winning entry above)
Installation
Recent work has also included a glass installation for Ince and Co, International House at Tower Bridge. This combined acid etching on mirror and fused antique glass. The installation consisted of 5 glass towers, "Elementals", each 1 metre high and lit by a central white LED cluster.
The Fusing work for this was completed at Southgate Studio and acid etching at Saper Glass. The front-piece in blue antique glass was fused with crystal glass to give a water droplet effect. The side panels were acid-etched mirrors, using bitumen silk screen of photographic images. These showed a matrix of photographic images (see Glass Installation).
Goddard and Gibbs Profile
During 2003 I served an apprenticeship at the studio Goddard & Gibbs. I worked in glass painting, which is a speciality of mine. Above are some samples created during this time. Goddard & Gibbs was Britain's most prestigious high craft glass studio, and completed many high profile international glass works.
St Martins Profile
The period spent at St Martins College, under Caroline Swash, Helen Maurer and many other tutors, was divided into two years, first for "Glass with Fine Art", and the second year, "Glass and Architecture". The second year had a more commercial emphasis, including study of project work. At the end of each year we exhibited our works at the Cochrane Gallery.
enamel on metal
As part of the Channel 4's "An Indian Summer", I worked with Amal Gosh to complete an enamel-on-metal work. This required creating multiple panels with the images drawn with powdered colour.
